KISS and Rock ‘n’ Roll Theatrics

Kiss is yet another fore runner in the world of Rock ‘n’ Roll. Another all American band, these international favourites are not only musicians but icons. The band dates back to 1973 when Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Peter Criss, and Ace Frehley met in New York City to create what, unbeknownst to them, would become one of the most legendary rock groups of all time.

Only two of the original members remain in the group these days, and the band has undergone a number of changes and face-lifts over the years. Their sales count over 100 million and they have recently been inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll hall of fame.

The group quickly gained popularity across the globe. Their music was catchy, and fit the Rock ‘n’ Roll profile perfectly. Beyond being known for record breaking sales, catchy tunes and quality rock music, KISS are also recognized and well known for their eccentric shows and performances.

These mind blowing shows offer those who attend a full spectacle. Everything from fire breathing and blood drinking, to rockets and magic, and, of course, pyrotechnics accompanies the beat of the band.

Perhaps it is the makeup that makes Kiss stand out above everything else. The band members are known for painting their faces with bold black and white patterns, each one unique. There is the Starchild, The Demon, The Spaceman and The Catman.

KISS considered for a while stripping back and relying on their music alone, having outgrown the showy shows and makeup. While they proved that their music was more than good enough to keep them relevant, it was their antics and dramatics that made them stand out. They brought back the makeup and pyrotechnics in the 90’s due to popular demand.

To this day there are hundreds of thousands of KISS fans who collect dolls, shirts, glasses, wigs, and every type of paraphernalia one can fathom.
