Great guitars, bombastic powerful metal rock, a recognizable voice: it's the new album of DIO!
His master's voice, Ronnie James Dio, already singing in Elf in 1972, keeps on going. Like there's no time for quietude, Dio composes his songs and still has this special voice, still fitting incredibly well in this kind of rockmusic!
Although it's not really my kind of music, I must say that this album is of constant quality. In my opinion there's too less keyboards on this record (do I really hear a synth?), but who the hell cares if you're a heavy-metal guitarlover?
The album-opener, "One More For The Road", comes in with an uptempo with this characteristic Dio-voice and lyrics. Some good guitarwork here from Craig Goldy! Next one, "Master Of The Moon" is a slow but yet powerful song, which gives the album it's name. Quite right!
O.K., some highlights to me then: "Shivers", "Living The Lie" and "Death By Love" with all great guitarsolo's.
If you're a fan of Dio, this one must be in your collection, but in my opinion it's always too much from the same with this music. I'd love to hear some keyboardsounds, but Dio is not in for it. That's too bad, because in the past there were enough keyboards on the records (listen for example to Rainbow's Rising-album). But wasn't that 28 years ago? This is now! But, to end with the words of Ronnie James Dio himself: "New is old and old is new!", and that's what it is!
